This is just a simple addition that just puts a couple of scriptures together that really makes you think. A couple of famous verses, but when put together really explains the lack of power in the American Church today.
First Scripture: Mark 4:19 (This is when Jesus was explaining the parable of the sower)
“and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”
So we understand that the things of this world choke the word of God that is sown in us. Yet when we look deeper by adding one more scripture to the mix...
Second Scripture: Romans 10:17 (This is when Paul is explaining Israel’s rejecting of the Gospel)
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
From this we know that hearing the Word of God springs forth faith in our life, so if the things of this world choke the word from our lives, faith is ultimately being choked out of us. You want to know why we no longer see miracles very often anymore and why the world seems to be turning on itself and people are constantly dying around us. It is because we as the church have fallen in love with this world and allowed it to deceive us and choke the word from our lives, ultimately rendering us (the church) powerless.
So what do we do? Well, we seek first the Kingdom of God, and no longer focus on the things of the world. Easier said than done, huh? We must do something. We must fully submit our lives to Christ, as we stated we did when we made the covenant with Him. Again – easier said than done, but when the desire is there, it becomes a little easier. I have come to a place in my life that I am tired of my weak Christian walk and am tired of hearing about people around me sick and even dying and I can do nothing. Yet Jesus stated that we can do everything He did and greater. I am determined to start seeing more power in my life and start seeing the people around me impacted by the power of God and His unending Love. If you too feel the same way, join me on this quest to start seeing the power of God moving through us, and impact the people around us, that those people around us who have no hope will come to know hope, which is Jesus Christ.
